Default Identities option missing in File menu

It sounds like somewhere along the line, something in Outlook Express became
corrupted. You might want to try an uninstall/reinstall of Internet
Explorer/Outlook Express as outlined in this KB article:

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q318378

To do so, you will have to uninstall SP2, then do the registry edit outlined
in the article. But before doing anything that drastic, try creating a new,
" dummy" email account, i.e., just use an email address that is bogus such
as and save the entry also making invalid entries for a
POP3 and SMTP server. Then reboot and see if you can now create a new
identity using Outlook Express menu, File/Identities/Add New Identity. Let
us know if that works to fix the problem before attempting a reinstall.

OK. Now we're getting somewhere. Under My
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities, you should see several strings of
big, long numbers as shown in the attached graphic. Each of those big,
long
numbers is called a GUID (Globally Unique IDentifier) and when clicking
on
the number will display the "name" of the account involved in the right
hand
pane. Each is for a specific Identity in Outlook Express.

Now, how many do you have? And what names are associated with each one?
