Are you using a new data file or is it a carry over from an earlier vesrion,
if so what version.
Do you have any third party tools/addins , eg desktop search tool, sync
software, mobile phone...

You cannot import from a corrupted pst into any version of Outlook
What size is this corrupted pst?
You may have to run the size reduction tool several times, trying the inbox
repair tool after each...

Try opening Outlook using the safe switch
Run
Outlook.exe /safe
Does it now run without problems?
If so go to Trust Centre, disable all non MS addins, retest in normal start

Emailing through Outook from Excel
Outlook will not send anything unless its open
The 'mail to' opens up a stub of Outlook and adds the msg to the outbox, it
doesnt open Outlook itself, therefore the msg cannot be sent untill outlook...
