Is it possible to uninstall/reinstall JUST Outlook 2007 and not the other
Office Programs from the Office 2007 Professional suite? I had to reformat my hard drive and when I tried to save my Outlook data, unfortunately, I used "export" instead of the proper way. It worked on my husband's machine, but I had multiple email profiles whereas he just had the one. When I tried to get my data back in, it was a mess. Now I don't care about the old data and just want to start over fresh. I've been through the Control Panel rigamarole--chosen "change components"--told it to be "not available"--the reconfigure runs--Outlook disappears. When I add it back, it's the same mess. My first clue should've been that no reboot was necessary.... How do I start over fresh with an empty data file? Will that erase the data in the Contacts folder? (found under--User/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook) Also, what is the correct procedure for backing up/restoring Outlook data so this doesn't happen to me again? Thank you, |

Have you tried a new profile? That is the usual fix for screwed up profiles.

Not sure what that means.....
When I search Help for "profile" the hits are all about email profiles. Under "File/New" I can create a new Outlook Data File....which says in the description that it's for creating "additional storage." Is that what you mean? Will that create a SECOND .pst, so that I can delete the first? Thanks, Karen "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Have you tried a new profile? I did just create a New .pst that very way. However, it only came with two
default folders: Deleted Items and Search Folders. There's no Inbox, Drafts, RSS, Sent Items, or Junk Email. Can I/should I drag and drop them from the old to the new? THEN can I delete the old .pst folder from App Data? Also, is copying the .pst to a disk the best way to back up Outlook data? I will be reinstalling Business Contact Manager once I get this part fixed and will want to back up that data as well. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Have you tried a new profile? ....and then when I created a new email profile, it was created in the
original Personal Folder and wouldn't let me move it to the new. Can you see why I thought a fresh start might be the way to go? ![]() THX, Karen "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Have you tried a new profile? Yes, it will allow you to replace the pst in a profile.
