But as you well know that doesn't stop outlook functioning, other than the
password issue "Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... "rustybatz" wrote in message ... I am running office xp pro on vista home premium and now get the error "outlook has stopped working" When I click 'check online for a solution' it wants me to upgrade to a newer version. It then closes outlook and will not start. I don't want to upgrade. Any suggestions on how to get outlook to run without upgrading? Outlook 2002 is not compatible with Windows Vista or Windows 7. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

I have had minor issues with outlook xp since office service pack 3 was
installed, but have been running it for over a year before getting this error. It seems microsoft has slipped something in one of their updates to force an upgrade since gates lost so much money with the stock market crash. I agree. My Outlook 2002 was installed in April 2009 on a laptop running
Vista Home Premium and was working until May 1, 2010. Is this related to an update and, if so, will Microsoft provide a fix? If they didn't, it seems like quite a coincidence that all of a sudden it
would just stop working when no changes were made to my system, other than microsoft updates, when it has been working since I installed it on my new computer a year ago. Besides, how can it not be compatible with vista when outlook xp was included in one of the most current versions of office when vista was released? If you can't explain why it would suddenly stop working, I can't see any other explanation than microsoft put something in or took something out of vista to deny access to this program. I never said it wasn't due to a Microsoft update. It very well could have been. I took issue with your reason for that update. The purpose of the update was not to disable Office XP and extract money from you. The purpose was to address an issue in Vista and a side-effect may have been to cause problems with an applucation that's not intended to run on Vista in the first place. I don't understand why this would bother you. Microsoft publishes system requirements for all of its software and when you willfully ignore the requirements, the results are on your own head. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
