I am not at all knowledgeable about this so I am hoping you will have
patience with me as I learn. Thanks in advance. I tried to get into my mail yesterday and it would not open. Hesitated for a couple of minutes and then shut down and a box came up. I am going to type what was in the box in hopes someone can help me understand it: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file. C:\Users\Teresa\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Ou tlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see Help. I did go to help and did not find what this is. Where do you find the Inbox repair tool? I did a repair from my cd and it says it was fixed. Did not work. I then uninstalled the Office from the computer and reinstalled today. That said it was successful, but I was still not able to open. My Word Documents and Publisher all work fine. This program is Office Professional 2007. I am totally out of my league. If there is any help for me I would greatly appreciate that support.. Thanks.. Teresa |

Luckily you don't need Outlook open to run the Inbox repair tool. As a matter
of fact, Outlook has to be closed when you repair the PST file. Do a file/folder search for scanpst.exe. When it's located, simply double-click on it and follow the instructions. One of those instructions will be to browse to your PST file, which you posted the location of so it's good you know where it is. Let scanpst.exe run against your PST file and let it repair any errors it finds, then when it's done run it again. If it still finds errors, when it's finished run it again. When it finds no further errors, then try opening Outlook. -- Kathleen Orland - MVP Outlook Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "ChocolateLady" wrote: I am not at all knowledgeable about this so I am hoping you will have patience with me as I learn. Thanks for that help. I did the search and it can not find the scanpst.exe on
my computer. Is there a chance that it is not installed on my computer? Teresa "K. Orland" wrote: Luckily you don't need Outlook open to run the Inbox repair tool. It should be. If it's not in a menu item "Microsoft Office Tools" on your All
Programs menu or under the Microsoft Office menu, then open Windows Explorer. In the Address bar, enter (or copy) %CommonProgramFiles%\System\MSMAPI\1033 and click Go. -- Kathleen Orland - MVP Outlook Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "ChocolateLady" wrote: Thanks for that help.
