Have you searched all your hard drives and partitions for DBX files? You
may find some called Inbox(1).dbx, Inbox(2).dbx, etc. If your search was
only for Inbox.dbx you may have missed those...

associated with your identity, so when you connect to the newsgroup, it

That error usually means that some folder corruption in the message store
has taken place. Close Outlook Express and then find the hidden file
"folders.dbx" and delete it. Then reopen Outlook...

An IAF file is only used to export/import account information. It has
nothing to do with backup/restore operations for mail messages.

No, newsgroups are not recoverable without a lot of effort and strict
adherence to a particular process.

You cannot "restore" old DBX newsgroup files and expect them to be
recognized by Outlook...
