Default error importing address book

I cannot import my address book, it says "an error occurred during the import
process. The import process could not be completed". It's on my old hard
drive that I installed in my new computer. I can import messages from it etc.
but not my wab.
I try to access it on my other drive and it denies, saying "make sure the
disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is currently not in
use".
Thank you for any help!

Try right clicking on the old WAB file and select Properties. See if you
get a message about it being blocked and do you want to unblock it. Then
see if you can copy it to your hard drive on your new computer. If you are
attempting an import from a CD, the file is marked as "Read-Only" and that
can create a problem. You need to copy it to your present hard drive, clear
the Read-Only attribute in Properties and then attempt the import.

Thanks for your response Jim. I get no message about it being blocked when I
right click it. The attributes are not checked. When I try to do anything
with it (copy-paste etc.) either access is denied or it says "the address
book file has been locked by another application. Please close the other
application and try again later".
Thanks

Are you running Windows XP? If so, you may need to take "ownership" of the
file. For info about how to do this, click Start/Help and Support and enter
"ownership" in the box to search for. Also make sure that no other program
is using the Windows Address Book at the time, i.e., close all other
programs including Outlook Express.

That took care of it! Had to reboot in safe mode to get 'security' in
properties to take ownership. Thank you very much Jim!
