You might want to check out GoBinder which is more student-centric. I've got
a couple student customers of my add-in for Outlook but the reality is,
GoBinder is much more suited for students....

Do you have auto archive turned on? Maybe they were stuck into an archive
pst?

Check Tools - Options - Other.

If it's turned on, you'll have to open that data file to see them. Or import
