Default Export does not work

I want to send a list of contacts, one category, to someone else. Export
does not work properly. When I try to export to excel, for example, the
"select folder to export from" shows only my mail folders. It does not show
any contacts. I have reinstalled outlook 2003 plus all updates without
success. Help, please. Thanks.

If this is to someone who is using Outlook, do not bother with exporting.
Create a new pst file, copy the category to that new file, close it,
then email the new pst file to them

I made a new pst file with outlook, new data file. when I copy the contacts,
then paste them to the folder, they go into an email instead.

Then you aren't doing what you claim. Tell us what you're doing instead. Be
precise and accurate in your description.

You have to copy the contacts to the CONTACTS folder in the new pst
file. You should see that as a second Contacts folder under Contacts....

The new pst folder becomes a mail folder with only deleted items and a search
folder. No contacts or other folders (deleted items, drafts, etc.)

Please do not respond to any of my questions. I find your answers rude,
impatient.

Then I would suggest that that pst file is seriously corrupted. How did
you do the copy?

Of course. Now create a Contacts folder in that PST with FileNewFolder,
specifying the new PST as the destination and "Contact Items" as what the
folder should contain. After that you'll be able to copy Contact items to
that folder.

I had made a pst folder, so I added it with data file management. Then I
added a folder containing contents, "asking" it to go into the pst folder.
It did not go there. The new contacts folder was in the contacts navigation
pane (top part). I Moved it to the pst folder but it disappeared. I noticed
that in my mail folders was a new "Personal Folders" folder which could not
be expanded. I tried to remove it with data file management but it did not
appear!

I suspect a corrupt Outlook. But a while ago (date uncertain) I ununstalled
and reinstalled office including updates. Nothing changed. I vaguely recall
someone suggesting a registry item was "bad."
