Neither does Outlook. Outlook's Address Book is simply a view of your
Contacts. Always has been.

By "resolved addresses," I think you mean when they appear as 'live'
links
in Contacts. All of my email addresses are underlined (live links).

I right clicked on Contacts folder, went to Properties Outlook
Address
Book and the name of the address book is "Contacts" and "Show this
folder
as
an e-mail Address Book" is checked, however greyed-out.

In an attempt to fix what wasn't broken, I added the Outlook Address Book
service. and now I have two instances one is marked differently with a (1)
The one without the (1) says (send from this account by default). Would it
be safe to delete one? If so, would you delete the one that has the (1)?

That's correct behaviour. Click the drop-down box and choose "Contacts"...
