When I type an address into outlook the email sends without any problem.
However, when I select an address from the address book, reply or forward an email it simply goes into the outbox and does not send. When I try and close outlook I get a message that their are emails in the outbox. I didnot have any problems when using outlook 2002. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? -- Rgds Bernie |

Clarify how you are selecting the recipient and verify that you have your
Outlook Address Book Service installed and configured correctly in your Outlook profile. If Outlook used to work and now doesn't, state what changes you made. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ... Thanks for responding. I did not make any changes and in fact have been onto Microsoft level 2 support who were not able to resolve this problem. They suggested creating a new pst file and adding them as the sole address which I did and still the problem persists. I can manually type an address in and the email will send fine but when I select an email from my contacts it simply goes to the outbox and there it stays until I delete it. My son has an account on this computer and does not have the problem the only difference being that my contacts are synchronised with HP6535 PDA. But I have been using this for two years without issue until I installed Outlook 2007. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled Office but it changed nothing. I have read yours and others solutions to this problem and tried them but have had no success. There is a definite problem with my outlook profile but I simply can't figure it out and neither can microsoft level 2 support who simply gave up. Any assistance is greatly appreciated -- Rgds Bernie "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Clarify how you are selecting the recipient and verify that you have your Outlook Address Book Service installed and configured correctly in your Outlook profile. How can you say you haven't made any changes for 2 years when you are using
Outlook 2007? Please provide correct details. You have clearly made several changes to your data file and addressing service. How did you migrate your data to Outlook 2007? The Outlook Address Book Service will be corrupt by default if you migrated incorrectly. The first troubleshooting step should have been to create a new Outlook profile from scratch, migrate your data to it correctly, then configure the Outlook Address Book Service. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ... When you asked if I had made changes I assumed you meant changes to my account settings not simply the adding of addresses. I don't profess to have your level of technical knowledge so apologies in advance if I misinterpret you questions. When I set up outlook 2007 this month for the first time I created a new profile just as I did for my son's account. I then imported the data that I had exported from 2002. I have since read that this could be a problem so I created a new pst file and manually entered contacts however the problem remains. I can only send emails if I manually enter the address in the To, CC or BCC fields. Replying to emails or selecting an address see the email go directly to the Outbox where it remains. I have run scanpst.exe which failed to detect any error. I have run diagnostics when sending which I would include here if it was possible to added attachments. -- Rgds Bernie "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: How can you say you haven't made any changes for 2 years when you are using Outlook 2007? Installing a new version of Outlook is the most drastic change anyone can
make to their configuration. It will never leave things functioning as they should. That's why I asked you what changes you made, only to have you say "none." We don't expect or need you to have technical expertise, just provide accurate information. It is exceedingly difficult to unravel problems based only on the information provided in newsgroup posts. The more accurate and more detailed the information is, the better our chances are of being able to help. There is still too much information missing to know what you've done wrong. You clearly still have a corrupt Outlook Address Book Service. If you are still using the same profile into which you attempted to import data, that is the cause. You must create a new Outlook profile from scratch (using a unique name) in order for your Outlook Address Book Service to work. If you do not know how to do that or do not know how to migrate your data correctly to a new profile, read the many posts here that address those issues and post back with specific questions. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ... Russ
Microsoft called me yesterday and went through the problem again. It seems that the problem has occurred during synchronisation with my PDA. Some of the addresses on my PDA were stored on the SIM which seems to have caused the problem. The resolution has been to manually enter my addresses in outlook and ensure that synchronisation uses my pc as the master file and not the pda. I take on board your comments about providing more detail in the post but my failure to do so was due to my lack of expertise with this product. -- Rgds Bernie "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Installing a new version of Outlook is the most drastic change anyone can make to their configuration. Indeed. Knowing that you were synching a PDA against your Contacts and that
the problem arose after doing so would have pointed us in the right direction. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bernie" wrote in message ...
