I have imported a Contact list of Excel. But when I look in my address book
under Contacts my list is not complete. Is there a limit to how many contacts you can import? I have over 2000. Also is there a way to eliminate the "file" version of the contact I just want the name, ph and fx number to show. My Excel sheet consists of three columns Name, ph and fx number. I would like to get this rights others will need to import the same list to their address book. Thank you. |

No such limit. It appears you did not import correctly.
Look in your Contacts Folder and see. Are the email addresses mapped to the correct field? Are they valid and resolved? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "TotallyConfused" wrote in message ... I mapped the field correctly. I did not use an email address on these
contacts we do not need only need name, ph and fax numbers. If the list is not showing when I open the address book and go to contacts then where would they be? Is there somewhere where I can see an example or walks you through step by step? Any help will be greatly appreciated. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: No such limit. Russ,
I've always been confused by this issue of address book vs. Outlook contacts. You're right that Outlook contacts that don't have valid electronic addresses don't appear in the address book, but I'm left wondering what the address book is used for when you have Outlook contacts? I guess the question for TotallyConfused has to be; do the contacts that don't appear in the address book appear in the Outlook contacts folder? If they do, then you did import them correctly, but as Russ says, some of them don't have resolved electronic addresses. Mark "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Underlined. okay what I am understanding is if I do not have an email and it is not
underscored then my contact will not appear in my contact folder? Then how do you explain the contacts that did make it to my contacts folder. Is there anyway around this? I just need to have Name, phone number and fax number. What I am doing with these contact's fax numbers, I am faxing from Outlook. So only fax numbers and names are important right now. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Underlined. That indicates Outlook recognizes them as valid electronic addresses. Actually there is very little use for the Address Book in Outlook. It is
simply a listing of all the electronic addresses in the Contacts Folder. It is usually better to use the Contacts Folder directly to access Contacts data. That's the way Outlook was designed. The Address Book view is created for those users who cannot wean themselves from the address book concept. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Mark R Penn" wrote in message ... Do not confuse the Contacts Folder with the address book. All data is stored
in the Contacts Folder. No data is stored in an address book.
