Default shared contacts missing

I'm using Outlook 2003 on XP. Another user has shared his contacts with me.
The bottom left of the Outlook window says "219 Items". I counted 164. I
have located several contacts on his computer that I cannot see on mine. I
verified in View/Arrange By/Custom.../ Filter... that the filter is off. Is
there another filter somewhere that I am missing?

I have tried several different views and I've tried searching for the
contacts.

Any ideas?
Thank you.

Are they marked private?
