Alright, so i'm having a little trouble setting this up how i'd like to have
it. Normally outlook.pst is the default pst file. if I have email1, email2, and email3, they share outlook.pst. I need advice in how to maintain multiple email accounts, INDIVIDUAL of each other, within one windows user account. I can have mail rule filters separate mail from 1 into folder1, 2 into folder2, etc. I don't want to do it that way... email 1 belongs to myself email 2 my brother email 3 shared between myself and brother, junk mail. email1 goes to pst1 file. email2 goes to pst2 file. email3 goes to pst3 file This is the goal. where each pst file has it's own contacts, it's own junk mail folder, trash, etc. I created a new pst file, so i could see the default one, then the second one, but when doing so, the new pst file only had 2 folders in it. there was no section for contacts, there was no section for it's own junk mail. and upon retrieving mail from my webserver, mail went to the default pst file. not the newly created one. |

Types of email accounts? Unless you use IMAP, MSN/hotmail/live, or Exchange you will need separate profiles to have separate contacts etc. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7? ... pop3. i can do imap, i suppose, but i'd prefer not to. :-\ oh, and outlook 2007 With Outlook 2007 (and with rules in earlier versions) you can have incoming mail go to separate PSTs as easily as separate folders. Just create those PSTs, create an Inbox in each (it doesn't need to be called "Inbox", either), thne create rules to move the incoming messages to those folders. In Outlook 2007, use ToolsAccount SettingsE-mail Accounts to select the Inbox for each account. You can certainly create Contacts folders in those PSTs as well. Junk E-mail, however, can't be separated within a single mail profile. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
