Default unable to connect to SMTP e-mail server error 0x80042109

I have used Office XP Pro - Outlook on my computer for over five years with
never any problems. Something has happened and while I can receive and cannot
send. I receive error message 0x80042109. I have tried everything and cannot
determine what has changed to cause the problem.
