configuring outlook 2007 for new messages only

Default configuring outlook 2007 for new messages only

when i tried to configure outlook 2007 with yahoomail and gmail i recieve
every mail in my inbox from the past 5 years. i would like to configure
outlook 2007 for new mails only or the mails from last 6 months only.

how can i do so???

I think you'd have to move the older messages out of the Inbox folder on the
webmail server into another folder.

You can't. When you create a new mail profile, Outlook has no knowledge of
what you've read and what you haven't. As far as Outlook is concerned,
everything in your Inbox on the server is new, so it will download it all.
That's one of the reasons that Yahoo and gmail provide the ability to create
folders online - so that you can organize what's on the server and not leave
it all ni the Inbox. Outlook will download only from the server Inbox.
