Default Problem configuring Outlook 2007

Hi:
I've installed Office 2007 and can open Word, Excel, etc. When I try to
launch Outlook, I get a message saying "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.
Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The
attempt to log on to Microsft Exchange has failed."
I've tried to repair the installation but that didnt' work. I searched for
..PST files on my laptop and didn't find any. And I uninstalled Office 2003.
Does anyone have any trouble shooting ideas?
Thanks!
Rik

Are you actually using an Exchange account or not? If not, recreate your
mail profile and set it up with the right account configureation;

Is the VPN active and the Exchange server accessible as well? Verify that it
is not an Exchange 5.5 server as that is unsupported with Outlook 2007.

If you are running a 64-bit edition of Vista check Additional Options- View
32-bit Control Panel Items

I've tried launching it with the VPN active and inactive. I get the same
message. I know that the VPN connects to the network because I've accessed
files from the network. I'm not sure it's Exchange 5.5, though. I'll have to
check on that.
Thanks!

Alright, let me know if that wasn't the case and we'll continue
troubleshooting.
