I just re-installed microsoft Outlook as part of Offcie XP and get teh
follwoing error message when I try to open Outlook “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. A program error occurred. Quit Outlook and Microsoft Windows and start again.”. I have tried this but still get teh same message. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall which seemed to work but the error returned as soon as I reboot the machine once. I am running Office XP on a Dell Precision 380 running Windows XP Proffession connecting to a local Exchange Server. |

One of two things may have happened. Either the Outlook profile has become
corrupted or the settngs on the network card cannot locate the server. Open Control Panel and Mail to add another profile. See if you can ping the exchange server by name or IP. If the office uses WINS to resolve for email, check and make sure the proper DNS and WINS numbers are entered on the NIC. I can ping the server using both the IP address and Computer Name so I know
it is not a network issue. I have tried to add an additional profile with no luck. It seems to be a connection issue with Exchange (version 5) that is limited to this workstation as I cannot duplicate the error on any other workstations and cannot add any profiles to the offending machines.
