In message compose, View Options or use Alt-P

I don't know where "Compose" or the View that contains OPtions that allows me
to click. Alt-P does bring up the option pane.

Composing is what you're doing when you're writing a new E-mail. I'm sorry
you didn't understand. If you read the option pane you'll see the
checkboxes for requesting delivery and read receipts.

John

ps, don't top-post

And why do you put the sigdash at the *top* with your reply so
everything thereafter is designated as part of your SIGNATURE?

You're using Windows Live Mail. While the user had to use registry
edits to get Outlook Express to bottom post or bottom signature (they
were separate options), WLM has them as user configurable options. At
least enable the option to move your signature to the BOTTOM of your
reply.

You do realize, right, that the recipient gets the choice as to whether
or not they send you back the receipt that you *requested*? The
default, I believe, after installing Outlook is that the recipient will
be prompted to send the receipt when they receive an e-mail with that
request. The user gets a prompt with the choice of of sending the
receipt or not. That prompt usually alerts the user that they never
want to send receipts so they configure their e-mail client to always
ignore those requests. Thereafter that user will no longer be bothered
with the prompt for the request and no receipts will ever be returned.
You will get few recipients sending you back any receipts.

In Outlook, hit the F1 key. In the help dialog that appears, search on
"read receipt" for instructions on how to use it in your unidentified
version of Outlook.
