Default OL 2007 & Exchange 2003 Rules Problem

I recently upgraded my Outlook to 2007, and we run on 2003 Exchange
server. Now, when I try to set up a rule, I get this message: " one
or more rules cannot be uploaded to exchange and have been
deactivated. this could be because some of the parameters are not
supported, or there is insufficient space to store all of your rules."

Is this a compatibility issue, or am I really out of room for my
rules? I would like to see if this is a common problem before I start
deleting rules.

Thanks!

exchange 2003 supports just 32 kb of rules and outlook 2003 and 2007 use
Unicode for rules, so they are doubled in size, resulting in room for fewer
rules.

One more question - do the rules work on my personal computer, or only
on the server?

There are server side and client side rules. Server rules will run if
outlook is closed, client side rules only run when outlook is open.

Thanks for putting up with my questions. Is there a way to specify
you want the rule to be client or server side?

No, its based on the type of rule. You can force server rules to be client
rules (by adding actions that are client rules) but can't trick client rules
to be server rules.
