When someone changes their Email address I change the Contact
information but sometimes forget that they are in a Distribution List which retains their old address. Is there any way to force DLs to update their data from Contacts? Even when I do remember I cannot find anyway to update an individual entry in the DL other than to remove the members and then add them back in. Surely there must be some better way to vaildate and update addresses in a DL that I cannot find? I am using Outlook 2007 in Vista Ultimate 32 bit. |

Doesn't the DL have and "update now" button? If so, you can try it. It works
about 10% of the time. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "ChrisW" wrote in message news ![]() When someone changes their Email address I change the Contact information but sometimes forget that they are in a Distribution List which retains their old address. I haven't yet experienced the problem in Outlook 2007 (really hadn't had the opportunity), but in Outlook 2003 any entry in a distribution list carried over from Outlook 2000 would not be updated. Any entry added after the installation of Outlook 2003 would update by either clicking on Update Now or simply using the keyboard shortcut "Alt+W." Instead of fixing the update, it appears the changes were cosmetic- the "Alt+W" shortcut no longer works. The symbol to the left of each entry (looks like a roll-a-dex card) was a always different for those that were carried over from Office 2000. They have not changed. |

Thanks for both comments. Yes, there is an Update Now button but it
doesn't seem to do anything. The second poster's comments might be a clue as most of my contacts have been carried over from version to version - probably since Office 95! I guess I'll continue to remove them and add them back in to be certain. Thanks again. Right. The only time I've seen the Update Now button work is if the Contacts
and the DL are both in the same folder in which they were originally created. Once one or the other has moved, it doesn't work. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "ChrisW" wrote in message ...
