The site loads fine, it's when I scroll down to that mailto
link towards the bottom of the page, and then click it,
a small window opens up, informs me my email client is
not configured properly. I click OK, and then all those
IE windows, not tabs, open up.

Use Control Panel's Folder Options applet to make sure your definition of the URL:MailTo file
type has the correct value for running Outlook.

Thanks, Brian. I got it fixed. Also, I'm using Vista and "File Types"
is no longer part of Folder Options. You do that now through Default Programs.

Michael, if you're crossposting to other than a Vista-specific newsgroup
(e.g., IE General, OL General), always state your Windows version in your
first post, please. (Not everyone here may have noticed that you
crossposted your original post to Vista General.) Thanks.

Makes sense, you are absolutely correct.

Will do.

Thank you very much.

The advice on that site to chose another email client and
then change it back to the one you want, in my case Outlook,
worked perfectly.

I appreciate it.

Take care,

Michael

I concur. My problem involved getting only 17 IE7 instances popping up
on Windows XP, but it was the same beyond that. I tried the other
suggestions for fixing this. The one that worked was that of assigning
Forte Agent (it was the first email client I could think of) as the
default email client and then resetting Outlook 2003 as the default.
Just in case, I restarted IE7 between setting the two defaults.

I don't know what is breaking the original default setting, but it
seems unusually common.

Gregory
