The outbox is empty, yet someone keeps receiving the same msg over and over
from this client. Is there anything in OE that we can check to be certain the problem does not originate with the sending computer? This has happened more than once with more than one recepient. AFAIK, the sending computer is free of viruses. Thanks. -- Bill |

First, turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a
redundant layer of protection and may be the cause. It is more likely to be either a damaged Outbox, or Sent Items. Do this for the Outbox, and if the problem persists, repeat for Sent Items *after* you move any mail you wish to save. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WindowsXP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Outbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Bill H." wrote in message ... I did see where the outbox.dbx file was about 21meg even though it shows up
empty when in OE. I delete it, and a new one of about 25K was installed. Trying to move stuff out of the sent folder to a new OE folder. Got some moved, but now I can't move any more. I get an error msg from OE about unable to move msg. There are a LOT of files in the sent folder, and many have large attachments. :-( "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... can you copy them out of the sent items to another folder instead of moving
them. If so do that, and then delete the sent items.dbx file. If you can't copy or move them, then copy the sent items file to another folder or rename it (with OE closed). Let OE then recreate a new Sent Items folder, and you can try one of the methods here (www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4) to attempt to recover the messages from the old file (DBXtract should work). And once you get things working again, you know what you need to do. steve BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP BACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUPBA CKUPBACKUPBACKUPBACKUP "Bill H." wrote in message ... I keep telling her that...
It's a one-person PR firm and in today's market, everything is handled via email, press kits, photos, etc., so email folders get really large very quickly. In fact, they switched from Outlook to OE because Outlook fell apart when the message store file got near 2 gb. ;-) "Steve Cochran" wrote in message ... can you copy them out of the sent items to another folder instead of moving them.
