I just noticed a little peculiarity in one machine running Windows Server
2003 Web Edition. The context menu that comes up on right-clicking any URL within a message in OE 6 shows only Copy, Save Picture As, Save Background As, and, Select All. The options like Save Target As, Copy Shortcut ... are not there. Also, the Spelling Check does not lunch. The option is greyed out in Tools when composing a message. And I cannot find any Spell Check options in ToolsOptions at all! This does not affect functionality of this machine or OE itself any. However, OE is configured for the Microsoft news-server and it would be helpful if the options mentioned here were functional and available. There are no server based email accounts on this machine. MS Office is not installed on this machine. This very-recently installed machine is patched with all MS updates available and has SP 1 installed. TIA Mono |

On mine, it shows:
Copy Shortcut Save Target As Select All Save To Favorites Grayed out a Copy Save Picture Save Background This is normal. Is that what you see? As far as spelling: OE 6 does not come with its own spell check. You need Word or an MS Office program. The spell checker in the basic Works 4 through 6 will work with OE. Older and newer versions do not. If you have Works Suite, that includes MS Word and a spell checker that does work with OE. You can also download a free spell check at one of these sites. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952 http://www.megspace.com/computers/tinyspell/ (Checks the spelling as you type). -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Mono" wrote in message nk.net... Mine does not show what it does on yours. All I can see are the Copy, Save
Picture, Save background (greyed out on yours, as you say). I don't see anything at all as on the other computers I use (Win 2003 Std, Win XP Pro, Win XP MCE, Win 2000 Pro...) I understand the part about the spell check - maybe that will change if I install MS Office 2003 SBE (or the Pro full version) on it sometime later. But the right-click context menu does bother me - though this is not the primary web-browsing or usenet-reading computer here. Regards and thanks. Mono -------- "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... options a Grayed Out: Copy Save Picture As Save Background Select all should be dark and functional. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Mono" wrote in message link.net... Thanks for hitting the nail right smack in the middle with the hammer -
unchecking the appropriate option set things right immediately. For reasons best known only to the the higher other self that co-exists in my body, I selected that option when adding news-servers to OE a few days back. I shall be installing MS Office 2003 (either SBE or Pro Full) shortly and that should take care of the spelling thing too. Regards and thanks very much for the quickness in helping out.
