Updates, OE 6.x, Live OneCare. Nothing works. Nothing updates.

For many years this HP PC with XP home worked perfect. But this week after
the latest MS Updates 3 things have broke.

1. Updates will not update. The MS Windows Updates pages hangs and will
not DL the updates.
2. OE 6.x will not DL the webbased email from:
3. MS Live OneCare will not update.

Now this HP PC will not restart, reboot. It just hangs forever. And ever.
All 4 things broke at the same time on the same day after DL'ing the MS
Updates.

Is there any hope? Can you help this HP restart? Reboot?

Using XP Home, HP PC, 1024 RAM, 80GIG HD with 29GIG of free space.

Clicking Restart will not restart. The HP Just hangs. Says shutting down.
Stays there forever. And ever. The on/off button has to be pushed.

Try booting from the XP Home CD and do a repair install. You will probably
have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order so that the CD/DVD
ROMdrive is first. You can go he

Thanks Jerry but I forgot to mention when it happened - when the 3 MS apps
stopped working, I reinstalled XP Home from the Restore DVD's on 2 Hard
Drives cause the same 3 broken MS Programs did not work on either new
install on both of the hard drives.

MS did put out 2 new Update patches to fix this but it is not working.
