WinXP Media Center version (?) doesn't know the program associated with the
attachment when it's double-clicked, even though the file association has been set up properly. If I save the attachment to the desktop and double-click it there, it does bring up PowerPoint. I tried this on my WinXP Home SP2 system and it does behave properly when double-clicking the attachment on OE, so something is messed up on the other system. Any ideas? |

Is this PPS attachments only? Try these two fixes.
There is a conflict with PPS and XP/SP2. See this link for a fix: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ppsopen.htm And: Save the attachment to your HDD. Right click on it and Open With | Choose Program. Find and choose a program that works and then check the box: Always use this program to open this kind of file. This should enable you to open these attachments in the future. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Bud Vitoff" wrote in message ... In that case you need to do that manual change described at that site.

In addition to Bruce's reply, the problem only shows if you have the
PowerPoint Viewer 2003 installed. If the system has the full PowerPoint or the older Pointer Viewer, the problem doesn't occur. It's a matter of the PowerPoint Viewer 2003 not creating a compatible fie association for Outlook Express. Bruce's reply has the fix for that. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Bud Vitoff" wrote in message ...
