cannot find 'c:\(the directory OE should be in)' After looking for it i find that there is only my Outlook Express folder but no files in it. I downloaded OE6 from the microsoft website but when i try to run it i get an error 'setup has detected a newer version of internet explorer already installed on this system, cant continue' Any ideas? How did you download OE6? It is part of IE6 and IE6 is already on your
machine. In the Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows components, make sure Outlook Express is checked. If still no joy, try an R&R. With XP it was included with IE6, and updated with the installation of Windows Service Pack 1 or 2. If you have either of these installed or installed IE7 and attempt to install any prior version of OE the message you received is normal. All repairs and reinstallations of OE should be done under IE6. Before any further information can be suggested, your o/s sp level and browser should be provided. If you are comfortable moving forward knowing the above constraints, then the only msft suggested method to repair/reinstall IE can be found here. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378/en-us Note: Different levels of XP service packs require different methods. Finally, just for curiosity sake, can you provide the link for the microsoft website that OE was downloaded ? ...winston |
