No backup. Why doesn't it work like Hotmail where I can pull up all my
folders on any computer around the world? "Steve Cochran" wrote in message ... If you have a backup see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 if its for Outlook Express. The files in OE and OL were stored locally on the now deceased hard drive.
If by chance on of the accounts was an Http account(msn or hotmail only) and in use on either application then separate files(OE) or a file(OL) were created on the dead drive for the http account. Only the files residing on the server(hotmail) would be available.. If an http account viewing in the web interface(hotmail.com) or setting up the same http account on another computer in OE or OL should yield a synchronization between the server and the newly setup OE or OL account. ...winston "Linwood Errickson" wrote in message ... : No backup. Because Hotmail messages are stored on a server and when you download your
POP3 messages they are then removed from the server and stored on your hard drive, which is now dead. Next time backup your important data, as hard drives fail all the time. steve "Linwood Errickson" wrote in message ... No backup. For the future.
This freeware tool backs up everything in OE in seconds. Disregard what is written in red. That is referring to a different program. Hopefully, you included Folders.dbx. The import will fail if it is absent.
Copy the CD to your HDD. Open the folder and Select All to highlight all the dbx files. Right click and remove the Read Only attribute. In OE: File | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and Import from an OE6 Store Directory and point to where you saved it. If you did not include Folders.dbx in your backup, the import process will not work and you will have to do each folder manually. See the last paragraph under Outlook Express and the link within to restore individual dbx files: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Linwood Errickson" wrote in message ... So the new power supply fried the mother board in the old computer but both
the hard drives are usable so I mount them in the new computer one at a time as it only has one available slot/power cable/IDE data cable and search for *.dbx but no joy so...where's the dbx? Or, is it called something else? Nick |
