Default Properties of e-mails and signatures

I have not set up OE6 to automatically add my signature to e-mails,
but if I right-click Sent mail and select Properties, my given name
and surname are shown, and the signature shows just my given name,
whereas my default signature shows only my surname. For example :
"Jane Doe" Jane at nowhere.com, rather than my default signature of
doe at nowhere.com (note also the change of initial cap). These
details also appear in any replies to mail I send that quote my
original mail. I would prefer Properties to show just "J Doe" doe at
nowhere.com. Can anyone explain how I can do this, please?

Also, in the From line, my entire name is shown, whether I want it to
be or not. I would like to have the flexibility of using my given
name plus surname for people I know, but just my initial and surname
when writing to others. For example, I would like the From line to
show `Jane Doe` for some e-mails and `J Doe` or even `Ms J Doe` for
others. Is this possible, and, if so, how do I set it up, please?

Many thanks
Kate

PS : I didn`t use the @ sign in my examples above, as OE6 kept making
hyperlinks which I couldn`t remove - another irritation!
