Another can't connect to OE6 issue
Hello people. When I'm offline and double click the OE icon on the desktop or
start menu OE will not connect to the internet. I get the error "The host _________ could not be found". There's no problem opening OE and sending / receiving mail when I'm already online, regardless which icon I click. This is a brand new Compaq w/ XP Home Edition, SP2 installed from the factory. Norton A/V has been uninstalled. Windows firewall is turned off. Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D |

If dial up, look in Internet Option and see if it's set to Never Dial or in OE's Tools | Accounts | Mail | account name | Connections tab | Always connect to this account using..... If broadband, you're offline and need to put it back online. OE doesn't know if you want to go back into online mode or not, that's just the way you left it. |

*BIG* mistake (unless another A/V and a third-party firewall have been installed)!
