I receive the following error message when I try to download messages from
Hotmail
[Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail',
Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Redirected', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 122, Error Number: 0x80004005]
It worked fine yesterday but it does do a thing today. Can anyone lead me in
the right direction?

Clear the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History folders, reboot and
check it again.

Most of the time, the error indicates problems on MSN/Hotmail's end (despite what they may say). Here are some things you can check in the meantime:

Make certain your time, date, and /time zone/ settings are correct.

IE ToolsInternet OptionsPrivacySites type in

hotmail.com
(live.com)
(msn.com)
(passport.net)

and Allow All Cookies for each domain.

I have tried everything, even changing the registry so XP thinks IE and OE
are not installed but to no avail. I stilled received the error message that
the latest version of IE is installed. I even did the {sfc /scannow} thing
and even tried to reinstall the DLL cache. That not work either....good for
me that I have "SYSTEM RESTORE". That worked. But I will clean out my temp
folders none the less. I guess with the first lady and I using the computer
it gets filled quite readily. Thanks for your assistance however, I now have
a few n more tools in my toolbox.

Assuming the problem's NOT on your end, access your account at www.hotmail.com until the problem automagically clears up.

That was the first thing I tried. I checked directly with Hotmail to see if I
could access my emails and I could so the prblem had to be with me or that
server at "http://services.msn.com/hotmail" or something like that. Problem
was placed in history by application of system restore. Thanks for your help.

You have a connection problem and you want to make it think that the
software that makes the connect is at fault so you remove the registry
entries to make it think it's not installed?

That's a bit extreme. It's akin to formatting the hard drive and
reinstalling everything because the cable wasn't plugged in......

Hotmail is known for it's instances of not connecting. Best bet is to just
wait out the problems and see if it connects later.
