Default OE has stopped sending & receiving

I have been reading with intrest the emails between "Curlee cues &
Bruce".Trying to find how to sort the problem OE has caused me.
For no apparent reason two wks ago my OE stopped sending emails, then it
also stopped receiving them.
Most of the problem appears to be with the dial up Password.

I have been through all the trouble shooting info I can find with
Pbtinternet.com & yahoo.com plus OE.but am still without email. I can
connect to the Internet. but any other connection is Nill.
Logon or Error Message is as follows

Problem loging to server. Password rejected Account Mail BT.com server.mail
bt.Protocol. POP3 server respond-ERR errorloging in. Please visit
http://mail.yahoo.com. Port 110 secure(SSL) no.server error 0x8ooccc90
errorno.0x800ccc92.

Can anyone HELP please
Many Thanks
Lilac,

PS. I also got a new error while trying to send email via yahoo just now. it
said something about not being conifgured to send email with OE. sorry but
didn't manage to get it all.

Your problem is different, but may not be any easier to solve. Your error,
0x8ooccc90 / 0x8ooccc92 is often fixed by completely removing the account,
rebooting, and then adding it back.

It could also be a conflict between BTInternet and Yahoo. If that is the
case, someone else will have to come up with an answer.

Unlike SBC Yahoo! DSL Service (which is now called, "AT&T Yahoo! HSI"), BT
Yahoo! won't let me access the help files without logging in. Obviously, my
SBC Yahoo! login won't work. So I don't know what your mail servers should
be. BT Internet should have given you the BT Yahoo! mail servers.

What I do know, from my SBC Yahoo! experience, is that accessing the mail
servers _requires_ authentication. In MSOE, you would go to your account
properties, to the servers tab, and check the relevant boxes for "My server
requires authentication". But _DO NOT_ check the "Log on using Secure
Password Authentication" box. That is _not_ the same thing as server
authentication; it is some kind of MS Exchange feature, and it does not
apply to the Yahoo! email servers.

You may be required to use your full email address as the log in name. It
is that way for SBC Yahoo! DSL Service.

I think that would be unlikely.

http://bt.yahoo.com/

And, there are others:

http://bbpromo.yahoo.co.jp/
http://rogers.yahoo.com/
http://sbc.yahoo.com/
http://verizon.yahoo.com/

Coming this year will be a Bellsouth Yahoo! service. I don't know when the
URL for SBC will change to reflect their new identity: AT&T Yahoo! HSI.

I think that the companies have figured out, by now, how to integrate the
Yahoo! email service with the ISP service.
