Default Outlook Calendar Appointments Different Companies

I work for an outsourcing organisation and we have a client who uses outlook
as well. Our client constantly sends us calendar appointment and vice versa.
However, these appear in both our and the clients mail box as simple text
emails. Is it possible to make these appear as actual calendar appointments
in out calendars and if we make changes they will reflect the changes in the
calendars as well?

Thanks

Brian
