Default Querying Custom Properties with ADO

I need to get data from a public folder into access so I can run various
reports on it and I'm working through the options. So far nothing has been
particularly satisfactory so I have returned to ADO which seems the most
promising so far.

I copied all the items in the public folder into a personal folder in my
inbox, and wrote VBA code in Access which set the view in Outlook then made a
connection to the folder, ran my query and Bob's your uncle ... all the
fields in the view are available including any custom properties.

I then tried to make the same code run against the data in the public folder
but the query will only select from a range of 19 standard fields. Custom
properties are a total write off. Is this a known difference between public
and personal folders? Can it be overcome somehow? Any better suggestions for
achieving what I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Custom fields are generally homed to a custom form but can be published to a
folder as well or exist independantly in the item itself. In your case it
sounds like the fields may have only existed in the folder and were not
copied over with the items. This stuff can be pretty mind-bending, so all I
can suggest is to inhale this article:

Thanks Eric. This wasn't 100% what I was looking for, but in any case I have
opted for a different approach using CDO to read the data and ADO to transfer
it to Access. Its a little slow but it works.

Thanks again

Vaughan
