Default Custom Outlook forms blank when opened

Hello,

Our organization is going through an upgrade to Exchange 2003. Our email
client is remaining unchanged at Outlook 2003. Custom forms I created prior
to the Exchange migration functioned fine. They were basic .oft files we
would distribute via email for people to use. No VBA, not published to
public library. After the Exchange migration some of the forms still work
fine, but some of them only display a blank, standard email form, not the
custom form.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Beginning with Outlook 2003 SP2, users can work with most .oft form templates files only by opening the template from the Tools | Forms | Choose Form dialog, browsing for User Templates in File System. This means that if the .oft file is sent as a message attachment, the user must save it to the local hard drive first.

The article at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=907985 explains this change in more detail, suggests best practices, and provides registry keys that can return Outlook 2003 to the older, less secure behavior.

Sue,

The forms that would NOT open directly as an .oft file DO open ok via the
Tools -- Forms -- Choose Forms .... method you described. The article you
recommended appears to hit mark also. You've put me on the right track,
thanks very much.
