Default Outlook Nickname cache - displayed WITH numbers

Hi Allan,

Yes, It appears after I have deleted the NK2 file or creates a new user
profile.
That means that the file Isnt corrupted.

No, the adressbooks doesnt show these figures, that would have explained it.

Ok, I will update the outlook NG with this respons.

Thanks

Henrik Arenblad

So it does this even after you delete the NK2 file? Is it always a local
address? I gather the address books do not show these numbers?

Maybe post to the Outlook group...

Thanks James,

Im aware of the functions of NK2 file, how to detelet the file, delete
individual adresses, the limit of 1000 cached NIcknames, How it
purges the least used cached nickname etc etc.

But what I and no one else seems to know Is why It adds numbers at
the end of the nickname and that i dont whant.

Thanks

Henrik

Hi all,

I have a problem with the nickname cache related to the nk2 cahche
file and its functions and limitations.

We have Outlook clients that have been getting cached nicknames but
with a long string of numbers added to the nicknames.

I have attached a pic that shows what i mean.

I want to know why those numbers are added to the nickname
(displayname) and how I can solve my issue of wanting to remove
whatever creates the numbers.

TIA

//Henrik

The .NK2 file can cause lots of wierdness, especially if an incorrect
address gets cached in it...

I just rename the NK2 file and Outlook creates a new one on next
restart. Or, I believe you can delete individual items from the
cache when they appear in the drop down list by pressing the DEL key.

No idea about the numbers though.

What does the alias look like in Exchange for the HelpDesk screenshot you
posted?
