Hi,

I've edited my Outlook address book (NOT the Windows address book) that
seems to be based on contacts. But neither the edits nor the deletions get
considered in the Outlookd 2003 Contacts window!?

Why not? Do I need to re-do the whole thing for the contacts now!? That took
my quite some time ... But why would there then be two different kinds of
address books INSIDE Outlook 2003?

I'm still hoping for an easy synch solution though ...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should NEVER try to change your Contacts via the Address Book interface.
The Address Book is a view of your Contacts and doesn't allow contact
modification. Always modify contacts within your Contacts folder.

address book view then enabled in Outlook and why can I change and delete

So now I would have to edit and delete the respective contacts AGAIN in
Contacts?

edit stuff there at all then when it has no relation to Contacts?

easier to select recipients for electronic messages. It contains no data and
was never intended as a data entry interface. Data entry is and always has
been done in Contacts Folders, where the data is stored.

you edit and delete stuff!? I'm sorry but that makes no sense and is
confusing ...

Huh? Of course I can edit and delete information in the address book (I'm not
using Exchange, but a local 'contacts' thingie I guess). That's what I have
been doing for 2 hours yesterday ....

Yes, I was unsuccessful in regards to the Contacts themselves. But that silly
address book INSIDE Outlook had let me edit and delete contacts! How could I
know that the address book and the contacts page weren't synched!?

That's plain counter-intuitive.

There is no separate address book in Outlook. When the developers provided a
virtual address list to make recipient selection easier they never dreamt
that so many people would fail to recognize what it was and fail to
recognize that their data is in the Contacts Folder.
