XP Pro, Outlook (Office) 2003 SP3 (SMTP / POP3 mail, no Exchange Server,
LAN) I must not have something configured correctly, and I'm getting lost trying to find help in the knowledgebase so I'm turning to this group. On my desktop at work I have two different logins that I use. The old, local, login is not used much any more but is where everything began. The new, network domain, login is now where I spend most of my time. This morning I discovered that Outlook is putting new addresses into the 'new' addressbook instead of the 'old' one which has all my contacts. What are my options? I really only need one contacts folder instead of two, but at this point I don't know 1) how to synchronize the two books or 2) how to tell Outlook to only use one of them. In fact, I was not even able to determine how to rename them so I can tell which one I'm looking at ... Outlook shows me two choices, both named "Contacts." Suggestions, please! -- Clif Still learning Access 2003 |

Each Windows logon uses a separate Outlook profile and each Outlook profile
will use its own data file (there is no address book in Outlook so I'm not sure what you mean by that). Just decide which data file you want to use, then make sure you place it in a location so that it can be accessed by the Outlook profile you want to use. Open the file in Outlook and set it as your default. The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored. Thanks, Russ. I spent some frustrating time this morning following a
link from slipstick I found in another thread. The MS KB articles it lead me to seemed relevant, but references to "click on File | Folder | Properties | Address Book Tab" failed to mention that I had to be in the contacts view -- at least I think that's what the problem was. I do have both .pst files in question linked; and the emails are correctly processing into the correct .pst file but I seem to be not properly set up with respect to contacts yet. After struggling with those KB articles this morning I think I'm finally on the right track. I'll check out the links you suggest. -- Clif Still learning Office (2003) "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ...
