Default why does address book give me fax numbers when I am writing email

I have a newsletter to send out and I have the list of potential people in
outlook. From the email I click on address and it gives me people who don't
even have an email address- how do I avoid this as going through almost 2000
contacts to select those with email does not fill me with joy!
