Default Outlook 2007 Distribution List

When I create a new Distribution List, the list shows the E Mail address in
the Name column and the E Mail address column. No names are shown. The Name
and E Mail address are shown in the correct fields in the Contacts folder.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

No, I didn't. I just started using Outlook a couple of days ago.

The exact same question was asked in microsoft.public.outlook.general on
February 3. The wording was identical to the wording of this post. That's
why I asked.

Describe EXACTLY how you created the DL.

Hello Brian:

The Contacts were imported from an Excel 2003 spreadsheet and all appear to
be correct in the Contacts list.

I Clicked on File:
Pointed to New
Clicked on Distribution List
Clicked on Slelct Members
Selected the names by clicking on the 1st name and holding the shift key and
clicking on the last name I wanted to add. All of the names were contiguous
in the Contacts list
Clciked on Members (at the bottom of the window)
Clicked on OK

I have tried selecting several names for the Distribution List and have
tried selecting only one name. The results are always the same.

Thanks for your help.

This may be the source of the problem. Importing contacts doesn't always
resolve all of the proper linkages. Open one of the contacts you with to
add to a DL. Change something in the contact to itself (i.e., erase a
letter in the name and type the same letter in again) and then save and
close the contact. Try to add it to the DL again. Does the behavior
change?

I have done as you suggested but it makes no difference. Here's another
little twist.

I created a new contact by clicking on File, pointing to New and clicking on
Contact. I keyed in my wife's name, Gerry Morrison and in the File As box it
showed up as Morrison, Gerry as it should.

I then keyed in her e mail address and the Display as box showed: Gerry
Morrison (email address). So far so good.

I then created another contact the same way using the name Stefan Neilson.
The File as box showed Neilson, Stefan.

When I keyed in his e mail address the Display as box showed only his email
address. No Name.
