Default How do I use nicknames in an e-mail mail merge?

I want to send out an e-mail to people in my Outlook Contact database. I
have everything figured out about how to do this except how to tell the
programs to put the nickname in the greeting (rather than the first name)
when there is one, and to use the first name when there isn't. How do I do
this?

Office version? You're storing the nickname in the Nickname field on the All Fields page?

Sue, I'm using Office Outlook 2003. I am putting the nickname in the
nickname field under the details tab of a contact file.

Also, since it looks like you are the person who literally "wrote the book,"
do I understand correctly that there is a way to have Outlook provide
nicknames for files. For instance, can I ask it to put Bob in the nickname
field everytime there is a Robert or Mike everytime there is a Michael?

Thanks,

Brent
