Default OL2002 Changes to a view will not stick

OL2002 - Corporate/Workgroup - WindowsXP
When adding a new field to the detailed address card view, set up in public
folders, the field will disappear after closing and restarting outlook.
User is the owner of the public folder therefore has authority to make
changes.
User has tried using the customize view and saving the changes.
User has tried Define view and modifying the view, saving the changes and
applying to view.
Any help would be much appreciated.
JanP
