I am using Office 20002 with all available updates.
I got a record in the contact list: Last Name: Last First Name: First Company: Company File As: First Last Full Name First Last (Company) Email: When I send mail, I enter "First Last", it will be translated to the correct email address automatically. However, if I type "Company", no result found. However the same works in Office 2000 I used before. Somehow the address book in Office 2002 search email not by keywords as Office 2000 did. Is there any ways to change this default behaviour ? |

You neglected to mention where you are typing the name.

From the "to" field when sending email, as well as "Enter a name to find a

In the To: field?
Then you need to specify whether you are using autocompletion or autoresolution. If you don't know, then at least post a clearer account of what you are doing. Of course this is different than Outlook 2000. Outlook 2002 and higher now use autocompletion in addition to autoresolution. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "kingsroad" wrote in message ... Did you mean the following settings:
Under When sending a message, clear the Automatic name checking check box. Turn off automatic completion of e-mail names Under When sending a message, clear the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields check box. They are both checked. No. I meant you need to post a clearer account of what you're doing.
I know both are checked. I can't tell which you're using because you've posted no details. Here. Just read this and figure it out for yourself: http://home.indy.rr.com/russval/autocompletion.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "kingsroad" wrote in message ... After reading the webpage you post before. I have a clearer picture on the
feature of Outlook. Let me ask you in the way round, could I manually create an alias for an email address to use in auto-completion? Moreover, in order for auto-resolution to works, do I need to type the words starting from the beginning? For example, a contact has a first name of "First (Company), I type company in the "to" field, autoresolution will not work? In Outlook 2002 and above, the only time I've been able to create an alias
that will find an address is to turn off autocompletion and use only autoresolution. Otherwise, autocompletion supersedes autoresolution. Autocompletion will find only the elements of the name and electronic address using the algorithm described he http://www.ingressor.com/autocompletetips.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "kingsroad" wrote in message ...
