Default Importing data from Excel to Outlook I get error too many fields

I have tried all the solutions suggested by "geezer" and others above and
still receive the error message that the Excel translator has had an ODBC
error--too many fields defined. Further, I do not, when beginning the import
from Excel procedure, get the option to "Map fields". Don't see any checkbox
anywhere.
