Default My contact list does not allow me to scroll to other letters

I have established a good contact list with over 60 contacts. When I click
on a letter for example "L" it goes to it and right away brings me back to
"A". This has never happened before. THis was not happening before. Did I
hit a key that locks it in this position? Or is their something wrong with
the software?
I need to be able to add more contacts, however; I don't know if I have them
if I can't go to that letter to find them. I have tried scrolling across and
it still doesn't help.
