my laptop was being repaired & when the tech "refurbished" it he asked me if
i wanted to install a trial offer for ms office 2007. i had no idea it would delete all my emails from outlook 2003. is there a way to recover those emails? can i uninstall only the outllook 2007? and if so, will that bring the 2003 version back with the old emails? or, is there someplace, some file where i can look to see if those emails were stored there? thanks. |

Depends what repair the Tech did, all mail is stored in a *.pst file, which
is a hidden file. Are your old docs in your My Documents folder? If not it likely means the tech formated your PC, and unless he backed up data or you have backups all data has been lost. Search to include hidden for *.pst, what files are found? ok, found the .pst files - so many of them, which one has the emails from
outlook 2003? can i move & view them on the 2007 version now? and yes, the tech said he backed up everything(?) on an external drive i had to purchase before "refurbishing" my hard drive (that's what he called it). afterwards i had to reload itunes, the wireless connection, router, fax, etc,. sorry - kinda new at this.... thanks for your help. The one with the most recent modification date is a good candidate, but you'll only be able to tell for sure if you open each one in Outlook and see what it contains. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
