I need to get OUTLOOK to look at my old pst files. In the past I could hjave
them saved anywhere. The last time I put my saved file with old email & contacts it in the Outlook file found in Local Settings\application data\outlook. Then I would delete the new file that was opened on the reinstall. This time Outlook won't recognize my saved file as a .pst file. Anybody have any ideas on how I can get outlook to recognize my old file? I have done this 3 or 4 times with this same version (2003) with no problems until now. |

Time to start doing things correctly, don't you think? This has never been
the correct way to transfer Outlook data. Renaming an existing Outlook data file and placing another in its place never connects the file properly to an Outlook profile. It invariably corrupts the profile and may even corrupt your data. To connect to another data file, you place it anywhere BUT the default directory, then open it in the profile you want to connect it to. The procedure is very difficult so write this down: File Open Outlook Data File... -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "hank158" wrote in message ... I need to get OUTLOOK to look at my old pst files. Your method, deleting the data file, is likely to corrupt the profile
If OL reports an err with your origonal data file, have you run scanpst.exe on it? If that doesnt recognise it then likely the method of copying failed PS Its not read only is it?
