Default Outlook 2000 problems

When I try to set up 2000 to work with my current ISP, AT&T support tells me
I can't use Clearwire as my wireless internet service because it's not a
secured connection. This doesn't make sense since my work email uses Outlook
2003 with this same service and it does just fine.
I keep getting an error message with 2000 when I try to send an email = 530
Authentification Error.
Anyone have a solution for this?
