Default "pst not compatible with this version of Personal Folders info Svc

Originally I was running Outlook on my laptop from a company exchange server
and using an .OST. Before I was removed from the company network I exported
all my mail to a .PST. At home I reinstalled Outlook and it kept looking for
the Exchange server and would not come up. So I removed the Exchange account
and created a POP account.

I tried to point the POP account to the .PST file mentioned above. I get the
error message in the Subject header. What am I doing wrong?

You exported your data. When you export, you have no control over the file
format, and you created a PST file in the wrong format. PST files from
Outlook 2003 and 2007 are not compatible with earlier versions.
