Hi,
We have a requirement to migrate from Groupwise to Exchange, as part of the plan we are giving users Outlook and connecting it to the Groupwise backend so that they get familiar with the interface before they are forced onto it. The question I have is that we need to configure Outlook so that the first time it loads it automatically connects to the Groupwise post office with the logged on username, much like you can with Exchange and .prf files or a customised install, however I can't find a setting in the .PRF file for Groupwise Connector service. Does anyone know how this can be done or automated further (i.e. Reg, third party, etc.) we have to set this up for 3,800 users. Also, if I setup a profile manually the user gets prompted to enter their Groupwise password three times. This only happens the first time and is more an annoyance than a stopper. Thanks |

Hi Customer,
Thank you for posting here. Regarding my experience, it seems impossible to customize the PRF to deploy the GroupWise account for Outlook. For more info, see the following article: OL2000: (CW) Outlook Unsupported Mail Transport Services http://support.microsoft.com/?id=197204 In addition, I have helped you research this topic over the internet, and found that there are some third-party solutions that may help you automatically create an profile. For your convenience, I listed a popular web site below: http://www.autoprof.com/ Note: The third-party contact information included in this article is provided to help you find the technical support you need. Alan, there's no technical reason why this isn't possible, since the ..prf mechanism is designed to support any MAPI provider. Wouldn't it be up to GroupWise to support the user of a .prf file to add a GroupWise account and provide the information to its customers that they'd need to customize the .prf file?

thanks Alan,
help doesn't appear forth coming at the Novell end that tool, neither scriptlogic appear to be capable of solving this issue. What I have found is this http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/trench/3044.html though I haven't had a chance to look at it as I don't access to Netware until I visit the site. This refers to OL2000 and WinNT & Win9x. I'm hoping that using this I can create a profile for OL2000 and when OL2003 runs it simply upgrades the profile. But who knows. Thanks anyway "Alan Sun [MSFT]" wrote: Hi Customer, Thank you for posting here. Regarding my experience, it seems impossible to customize the PRF to deploy the GroupWise account for Outlook.
